How our Microschool works
Our Microschool operates as a homeschool co-op, providing flexibility for families to tailor their educational journey according to their needs while fostering a strong sense of community. Families can select their schedule based on their individual preferences, balancing homeschooling with extracurricular activities, family commitments, and other personal factors.
To ensure an active, supportive community, each family is required to volunteer twice during the school year. This volunteer requirement helps strengthen the bonds between families and enhances the collaborative, hands-on learning environment.
We all participate in a mutual co-op agreement, which outlines the responsibilities and expectations of all members, including families, students, and the educational staff. This agreement fosters a shared commitment to the values of the school and the well-being of all students.
While students are required to be registered as homeschoolers with their respective local school districts, Discovery Trails takes on the responsibility for administering the necessary testing and assessments to ensure academic progress. We will also maintain accurate attendance records, offering families peace of mind and a structured approach to meeting educational and legal requirements.
This model offers families the best of both worlds: the flexibility and customization of homeschooling, combined with the structure, resources, and support of a community-focused co-op. It provides children with diverse learning experiences, socialization opportunities, and a well-rounded education.
